Pueblo, CO – Showers and thunderstorms are set to impact much of Colorado starting Friday afternoon, bringing a significant change to the warm, dry conditions. Residents across the state should prepare for widespread rain and potential lightning, with the highest chances of storms in the afternoon and evening hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely between noon and 3 p.m. Friday, becoming more widespread later in the afternoon. Northern Colorado, including areas around Denver, will experience a 70% chance of precipitation, with potential rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch. Higher amounts are possible within stronger thunderstorms.

For Colorado Springs, Friday afternoon brings a similar outlook with a strong likelihood of thunderstorms. Travelers on I-25 and local roads should be aware of reduced visibility and slick conditions. Drivers should slow down and allow extra stopping distance. Charge all electronic devices and ensure emergency kits are ready.

Friday night, storms will continue, especially before midnight, with an 80% chance of precipitation. Temperatures will drop to around 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Saturday maintains an 80% chance of showers and thunderstorms, primarily between noon and 3 p.m., before clearing somewhat in the evening. Highs will reach 78 degrees Fahrenheit.

The weekend forecast shows diminishing rain chances by Sunday, with only a 20% chance of afternoon showers and storms and a high near 87 degrees Fahrenheit. Early next week, isolated storms remain possible on Monday and Tuesday afternoons. Warnings may be issued as conditions develop.
