Pueblo, Colorado – Thunderstorms sweeping through central and southern Colorado could unleash dangerous flash flooding through 10 p.m. Wednesday, especially in mountainous terrain and low-lying urban areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, a Flood Watch remains in effect for a wide swath of the state, including Fremont, El Paso, Pueblo, Teller, Custer, Huerfano, Las Animas, Crowley, and Otero counties. Heavy downpours could cause rapid runoff and trigger flooding along rivers, creeks, and over burn scars—particularly in the Sangre de Cristo and Wet Mountains, Pikes Peak region, and urban corridors like Pueblo, Colorado Springs, and La Junta.

Residents in Canon City, Trinidad, Walsenburg, and Woodland Park should avoid driving through flooded roads and stay alert to changing conditions. In areas with recent wildfires, such as around Rye and Weston, flash floods may form quickly and without warning.

Urban drainage systems in Rocky Ford and Ordway may become overwhelmed, prompting potential street flooding. If a Flash Flood Warning is issued, move to higher ground immediately and avoid all low-water crossings.

Rainfall is expected to taper off late tonight, but additional advisories may follow if storms redevelop. Stay weather-aware through the evening.
