Pueblo, CO – A Red Flag Warning has been issued for parts of southern Colorado, including Pueblo, Colorado Springs, Walsenburg, and Trinidad, due to extreme fire weather conditions. The warning is in effect from noon to 7 p.m. MDT on Sunday, with additional Fire Weather Watches extending into early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, strong winds, low humidity, and dry conditions are expected to heighten wildfire risks across multiple fire zones. Winds will reach 25 to 40 mph, with gusts up to 65 mph in some areas. Relative humidity levels are forecast to drop as low as 6 percent.

The affected areas include El Paso, Pueblo, Huerfano, Las Animas, Crowley, and Kiowa counties. Fire Weather Watches are in place from Monday morning through Tuesday evening, meaning conditions will remain hazardous for several days.

Officials warn that any fires that ignite will spread rapidly and could become difficult to control. Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning and activities that could spark a fire. Emergency services recommend having an evacuation plan in place and staying updated with local alerts.

The National Weather Service advises monitoring forecasts as conditions may lead to additional warnings. Extreme caution is advised throughout the affected regions.
