Pueblo, CO – Red Flag Warnings remain in place across southern Colorado, with critical fire weather conditions threatening areas from Pueblo to Alamosa through Saturday evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, Red Flag Warnings are active until 9 p.m. Friday for multiple fire zones, including Pueblo, El Paso, Fremont, and the San Luis Valley. A second Red Flag Warning will take effect from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 29, for the same regions.
Forecasters warn that southwest winds ranging from 15 to 25 mph—gusting up to 40 mph in some areas—combined with humidity as low as 9%, will create dangerous fire conditions. Dry fuels and erratic wind patterns could allow wildfires to ignite and spread rapidly.
Counties impacted include Pueblo, Huerfano, Las Animas, El Paso, and Alamosa, where outdoor burning and open flames are strongly discouraged. Officials advise residents to secure outdoor equipment, avoid parking on dry grass, and report any signs of smoke immediately.
This elevated fire risk follows a pattern of dry spring conditions common in southern Colorado. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and follow local emergency updates through Saturday evening.
