Colorado Faces Near-Record Heat with Scattered Storms in Forecast

Denver, CO – Colorado is bracing for near-record temperatures today, with highs reaching up to 105 degrees in some areas. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Denver/Boulder has issued a heat advisory and warned of scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms, particularly over the mountains. Isolated storms are expected to move onto the plains later in the day, accompanied by gusty winds up to 50 mph.

According to the NWS, the most significant weather activity will occur in the mountains and foothills, while the urban corridor and plains will experience isolated storms. Light rainfall is anticipated east of the mountains. In addition to the heat, an air quality alert is in effect until 4:00 PM MDT, with a moderate air quality index of 88.

The forecast for the upcoming week indicates continued high temperatures. Monday’s high will reach 96 degrees, followed by 94 degrees on Tuesday and 97 degrees on Wednesday. A slight cooldown is expected on Thursday with a high of 78 degrees and a 30% chance of rain.
