Pueblo, Colo. – Drivers across southern Colorado could face dangerous travel conditions Friday morning as dense fog blankets the region, reducing visibility to a quarter mile or less.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, a Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. MDT for El Paso and Pueblo counties, including major corridors like I-25 and US Highway 50. Areas impacted include Colorado Springs, Black Forest, Pueblo, and Peterson Space Force Base.

Motorists are urged to slow down, turn on headlights, and increase following distance during the morning commute. Visibility may fluctuate rapidly, especially in low-lying areas and along ridgelines such as Monument Ridge and the Rampart Range.

The advisory affects elevations below 7500 feet, making fog particularly thick in valley regions and urban centers. Officials warn that morning traffic delays are possible, especially near interchanges and high-speed roadways.

Conditions are expected to improve mid-morning as the fog lifts with warming temperatures. However, drivers should remain alert for lingering low clouds and sudden visibility drops. Updates will follow if the advisory is extended or expanded.
