Pueblo, Colorado – Scattered thunderstorms could develop across southern Colorado by Wednesday afternoon as a cold front pushes south, dropping temperatures and increasing the chance of mountain snow by Thursday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, isolated to scattered storms will form over the region today, with the most concentrated activity expected west of I-25 and in the higher elevations. A cold front will slide through late Wednesday, bringing cooler air and a sharp drop in temperatures overnight.
Communities like Alamosa, Buena Vista, and Wolf Creek Pass are likely to see rain and embedded thunderstorms, while areas like Leadville may dip into the 40s with snow possible early Thursday. Pueblo and La Junta are expected to reach highs in the 70s before the front moves through, followed by overnight lows in the mid-40s.
Travelers should prepare for rapidly changing conditions, especially in the mountains, where lightning, slick roads, and brief downpours could cause delays. Keep devices charged and avoid exposed high terrain during storms.
Colder air and additional rounds of precipitation are expected to continue into Thursday. More updates will follow as storm coverage increases.
