Grand Junction, CO – A severe weather alert is in effect for much of Colorado and southeastern Utah, with a freeze warning and wind advisories impacting several regions. Starting tonight, temperatures will plummet to near 19°F, with hazardous winds reaching up to 50 mph.
According to the National Weather Service, a wind advisory remains in effect until midnight tonight for areas including Grand Junction, Moab, and Blanding. These gusty southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph, could create challenging driving conditions, particularly for high-profile vehicles. Additional wind advisories are expected to continue in some regions until Tuesday evening.
A freeze warning is also in place from midnight Tuesday night until 8 a.m. Wednesday, with temperatures expected to dip below freezing across the affected areas. The cold could damage sensitive vegetation and unprotected outdoor plumbing.
Residents are urged to secure outdoor objects, take measures to protect plants, and exercise caution when driving, especially on open roads prone to gusty winds. The cold and wind are expected to persist into Wednesday, potentially impacting agriculture and daily activities across the region.
