Grand Junction, CO – A widespread Freeze Warning has been issued for western Colorado and eastern Utah, with sub-freezing temperatures expected to hit the region early Thursday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, the warning will be in effect from midnight tonight until 9 a.m. Thursday. Temperatures are forecast to drop as low as 22 degrees Fahrenheit, impacting the Grand Valley in Colorado, including Grand Junction, Fruita, Palisade, and Whitewater. In Utah, the warning applies to Moab, Blanding, Bluff, Castle Valley, and nearby areas including Arches National Park.
The cold snap could severely affect agriculture and landscaping, as frost and freezing temperatures may damage or destroy crops and sensitive vegetation. The warning also includes potential risks to outdoor plumbing and irrigation systems if left unprotected.
Residents and farmers are urged to take immediate precautions to shield tender plants, cover garden beds, and insulate exposed pipes. This late-season cold front could have notable impacts on early-spring growing efforts across the region.
The National Weather Service continues to monitor conditions and advises residents to stay updated through official forecasts and local alerts.
