Collin County, Texas – Streets across central Collin County turned hazardous Monday morning as flash flooding shut down low-lying roads and underpasses, putting drivers at risk and threatening nearby neighborhoods.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, a Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 12:45 p.m. CDT after Doppler radar detected heavy rainfall from slow-moving thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing in several towns, with more expected through midday.

McKinney, Frisco, Allen, Wylie, Prosper, and surrounding suburbs have reported water covering streets, small creeks spilling banks, and rapid ponding in urban areas. The warning also includes Fairview, Princeton, Celina, Lucas, Melissa, and areas near Lavon Lake. Emergency crews caution that underpasses and poor-drainage roads are especially dangerous.

Authorities urge residents to avoid unnecessary travel and to remember the phrase “Turn around, don’t drown.” The majority of flood-related deaths occur when drivers attempt to cross water-covered roads.

The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until early afternoon, and more advisories could be issued if storms persist. Residents are encouraged to monitor updates from the National Weather Service and local emergency officials.
