Reno, NV – Northern Nevada residents are facing hazardous conditions as a freezing fog advisory remains in effect until 11 a.m. Monday. Drivers along Highway 395 and other regional routes are urged to use extreme caution due to icy roads and limited visibility.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), freezing fog has reduced visibility to less than a quarter mile in areas such as Reno, Sparks, and Pyramid Lake. The advisory also extends to Washoe, Northern Lyon, and Pershing Counties, where slick conditions may lead to accidents, especially on bridges and overpasses. Travelers are advised to slow down, maintain distance from other vehicles, and use headlights in fog-prone areas.

Sunday night’s low temperatures around 20°F will contribute to icy road surfaces. Monday is expected to bring partly sunny skies with a high near 49°F, but freezing fog may persist during the early morning hours. The region will remain dry and calm throughout the week, with highs reaching the low to mid-50s by Wednesday and Thursday. Nightly lows will hover in the 20s, keeping frost and fog risks elevated.

Drivers on major highways, including U.S. 50 and NV-447, should plan extra travel time through Monday morning. Pedestrians are also urged to avoid icy sidewalks and exercise caution outdoors.

Residents can look forward to sunnier conditions starting Tuesday, but colder mornings will require ongoing vigilance. Check the NWS website for updated weather alerts.
