Washington, D.C. – Subfreezing temperatures and sporadic snow flurries will grip Washington, D.C., tonight as the area remains under a cold weather advisory. Residents can expect lows near 11 degrees tonight, with wind chills dropping as low as zero.

According to the National Weather Service, isolated snow showers will taper off around 9 p.m., leaving cloudy skies and brisk winds gusting up to 20 mph. These conditions make for hazardous travel, especially on untreated roads. If heading out, wear layers to guard against frostbite and plan for extra travel time.

Wednesday will bring slight relief with a high of 21 degrees, though wind chills will still dip below zero in the morning. The area’s first meaningful break from the deep freeze arrives Friday, when highs are projected to reach 33 degrees. Saturday is expected to feel even milder, with a high of 36 degrees under sunny skies.

Commuters should stay alert for slick spots during the morning and evening commutes on Wednesday, particularly along I-395 and Route 50. The cold snap is expected to ease slightly by week’s end, but residents are advised to continue winterizing homes and vehicles.

For now, bundle up, stay off icy roads, and look forward to warmer conditions by the weekend.
