Oneida County, NY – A snowy weekend is setting the stage for a cold, unsettled week in Central New York, with wintry weather expected to persist.
The National Weather Service forecasts heavy snow through Sunday morning in northern Oneida County, with totals ranging from 10 to 20 inches. Southern parts of the county are likely to see 1 to 3 inches. A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for northern areas, creating hazardous travel conditions, especially along State Route 12 and other major roadways.
Sunday will bring a brief break from snow as temperatures rise to the low 40s, but colder air and a mix of rain and snow return midweek. Monday’s high will reach 41°F with mostly cloudy skies, followed by mild showers on Tuesday. By Wednesday evening, temperatures will drop into the 30s, bringing rain that could transition into snow overnight.
Residents should prepare for slippery roads, reduced visibility, and fluctuating conditions throughout the week. Local authorities recommend monitoring weather updates and allowing extra travel time when venturing out.
Stay alert for midweek updates as additional precipitation may impact holiday planning or commutes.
