South Bend, IN – The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana says residents should prepare for a sharp temperature swing this week, starting with frigid conditions tonight before a brief warm-up and unsettled weather midweek.
Temperatures tonight will drop to single digits in some areas, with lows ranging from 2°F to 12°F under mostly clear skies. Monday will remain cold but sunny, with highs between 21°F and 27°F.
By Tuesday, southerly winds will usher in warmer air, pushing highs into the mid- to upper 30s. Breezy to windy conditions will continue into Wednesday, with highs near 40°F and a light mix of rain and snow possible, mainly Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
After the brief warm-up, colder air returns Thursday into Friday, bringing another chance of scattered snow showers.
The NWS advises residents to prepare for changing road conditions and wind chills early in the week, followed by blustery, unsettled weather midweek.
