Tulsa, OK – A freeze watch is in effect across parts of eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas, with temperatures expected to dip as low as 27°F overnight Sunday. The National Weather Service has issued the alert, which will remain active until 9 a.m. Monday, affecting cities including Tulsa, Fort Smith, and Fayetteville.

According to the National Weather Service, the freeze could damage sensitive vegetation and unprotected outdoor plumbing. Areas that typically experience colder temperatures in the early hours of the morning are especially at risk.

Residents are advised to take precautionary measures to protect plants, such as bringing them inside or covering them with blankets or tarps. Outdoor plumbing should also be insulated to prevent freezing and potential damage.

The freeze watch stretches across several counties, including Benton, Carroll, Washington, and Sebastian in Arkansas, as well as Tulsa, Rogers, and Creek in Oklahoma.

The unseasonably cold weather follows an unusually warm stretch, creating a sharp contrast that could impact agricultural areas. Drivers should also be aware of the possibility of frost on roadways, especially in rural and elevated locations.
