Buffalo, NY – A Frost Advisory remains in effect for much of western and central New York from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. EDT Thursday, as temperatures are expected to dip into the low to mid-30s overnight. The National Weather Service in Buffalo warns that widespread frost could develop away from the lakeshores.

The advisory covers Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, Livingston, Chautauqua, and Oswego Counties, including cities such as Buffalo, Batavia, Geneseo, Jamestown, and Oswego.

According to the NWS, frost could kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left unprotected. Residents are advised to bring potted plants indoors or cover them before midnight to prevent damage.

The chilly air mass settles in behind a passing cold front, bringing one of the coldest mornings of the fall season so far. Temperatures are expected to rebound into the 50s by Thursday afternoon under mostly sunny skies.
