Eureka, CA – The National Weather Service in Eureka has issued a Frost Advisory through 9 a.m. Sunday for portions of northern California’s interior valleys, where temperatures are expected to drop as low as 34 degrees.
According to the NWS, frost formation is likely across southern Humboldt, southern Trinity, and northern and northeastern Mendocino counties. Communities under the advisory include Hayfork, Forest Glen, Dinsmore, Peanut, Potter Valley, Covelo, and Laytonville.
Residents are advised to take precautions to protect sensitive vegetation, as frost may harm or kill tender outdoor plants if left uncovered. The chill will be most noticeable around sunrise Sunday, before temperatures gradually rise later in the morning.
No significant wind or precipitation is expected, but clear skies and calm winds will allow for efficient overnight cooling.
The NWS recommends covering plants or bringing them indoors where possible to minimize frost damage.
