Columbia, SC – The National Weather Service in Columbia says that a few light morning showers and mostly cloudy skies will clear later today as a cold front sweeps through the Midlands and Central Savannah River Area.

Temperatures will take a sharp drop behind the front — after today’s highs in the low to mid-70s, Thanksgiving will feel much more seasonal, with highs in the mid-50s and sunny skies expected.

By Friday morning, clear skies and calm winds will allow temperatures to fall sharply, with morning lows in the 20s and afternoon highs only in the 40s — the coldest air of the season so far.

Thanksgiving Week Forecast Highlights:

  • 🌦️ Today (Wednesday): Scattered morning showers, then gradual clearing. Highs 72–76°F, lows 35–40°F.
  • ☀️ Thursday (Thanksgiving): Sunny, cooler, and pleasant. Highs 54–59°F.
  • 🧤 Friday: Clear and cold. Morning lows in the 20s, highs 48–53°F.

NWS Reminder:
If you plan to travel for the holiday, keep jackets and cold-weather gear handy — the drop in temperature will be noticeable after today’s warmth.
