A cold front has brought chilly weather and brisk winds across Maryland this week, with temperatures set to drop significantly. Maryland residents, particularly in the Baltimore area, can expect gusty northwest winds up to 30 mph on Wednesday, along with highs only reaching the low 50s. Commuters along I-95 should be prepared for strong crosswinds, especially in the afternoon, which could make driving conditions challenging.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Baltimore/Washington, high-pressure systems moving in from the northwest will keep conditions dry but cool through Friday. On Wednesday, temperatures are expected to top out around 53°F in Baltimore, while nighttime lows dip into the low 40s. Residents should dress warmly, especially for early morning and evening activities.
Looking ahead, Thursday will bring increasing cloud cover with a 40% chance of rain showers developing by afternoon. Gusts will ease slightly but remain in the 10-15 mph range, adding a chill to the high of 54°F. Friday is anticipated to be partly sunny with a high near 59°F, while Saturday will see temperatures rise slightly to 63°F under mostly sunny skies.
By Sunday, warmer weather is expected, with highs in the mid-60s, though clouds may return by evening. This gradual warming trend should continue into early next week, but drivers and residents should remain cautious of gusty winds and prepare for cooler, fluctuating temperatures throughout the week.
Stay tuned to the National Weather Service for the latest updates and alerts, and drive cautiously on area roads, particularly during periods of high winds.
