Michigan – A cold front moving into Southeast Michigan today will bring widespread rain and thunderstorms, setting the stage for significant weather impacts. Residents should prepare for potentially heavy rainfall and cooler temperatures lasting through Sunday.

According to the US National Weather Service, showers and thunderstorms will develop later today, with some areas seeing rainfall totals between 0.25 and 1 inch. Thunderstorms will mostly affect areas along and south of M-59, with rain continuing overnight and into early Sunday. Temperatures are expected to drop significantly, with highs today ranging from 61-67°F, followed by lows tonight dipping to 41-51°F.

Rainfall will persist into Sunday, accompanied by even cooler temperatures, as highs are forecast to stay between 56-62°F, with lows falling into the 38-44°F range. Southeast Michigan can expect a sharp decline in temperatures through Monday and Tuesday, with Monday’s high reaching just 55°F, accompanied by rain showers. The Thumb region will be particularly affected by below-normal temperatures and continuing precipitation.

Motorists should be cautious, especially along I-75 and M-59, as roadways may become slick. Rain will continue through early next week, with Tuesday marking the coldest day, with highs around 48-51°F and potential rain showers lingering.
