Washington, D.C. – A sharp temperature divide continues across the United States today, with the eastern third of the country experiencing unseasonably cold air while the West remains far warmer than average, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The latest NOAA forecast map for Tuesday, November 11, 2025, shows highs only in the 30s and 40s across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, while much of the Southeast holds in the 50s and low 60s. In contrast, the western and central states are basking in highs from the upper 60s to low 90s, including a scorching 91°F in southern California.
According to the NWS, the cold air mass will gradually slide eastward through midweek, as the warmer western temperatures push toward the central U.S. by Thursday. The agency noted that this sharp contrast is part of a larger temperature pattern flip, with cooler readings expected to return to the West by the weekend.
Residents along the East Coast should expect chilly mornings and brisk winds through Wednesday before temperatures begin a slow rebound late week. Meanwhile, areas in the Plains and Southwest could see continued above-normal warmth, adding to an extended stretch of mild autumn conditions.
