BOSTON, MA – New England is bracing for a dramatic temperature swing over the next several days, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Boston. After a mild weekend with highs in the upper 30s to mid-40s, a surge of much colder air will move in by Monday, bringing overnight lows in the single digits and teens across the region.

The cold front will be short-lived, however. Temperatures are forecast to rebound sharply by midweek, with highs climbing back into the 40s and low 50s by Wednesday and Thursday for much of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut.

The NWS described the pattern as a “temperature roller coaster,” with Boston expected to fall from around 45°F Sunday to 28°F Monday, then climb back into the mid-40s by Wednesday.

Residents are advised to prepare for rapid temperature drops Monday night that may affect heating needs, pets, and outdoor activities. Wind chills could make conditions feel even colder before the midweek thaw sets in.
