Springfield, MO – The National Weather Service in Springfield says cold and clear conditions will settle across the Ozarks tonight, with temperatures dipping into the upper teens and low 20s and wind chills falling into the teens by early Friday morning.
Despite the cold start, Friday will bring mostly sunny skies and moderating temperatures, with afternoon highs ranging from 45° to 49°F. Winds will occasionally gust up to 25 mph, adding a brisk feel to the day.
According to the five-day forecast, the pattern will remain mostly dry through early next week, with near-normal temperatures continuing into Tuesday. Highs will hover in the 40s to low 50s, and overnight lows will stay in the mid-20s to low 30s across much of southern Missouri.
Saturday and Sunday are expected to stay partly to mostly cloudy, with Sunday seeing light gusts up to 20 mph and highs in the upper 30s to mid-40s. By Monday and Tuesday, clearer skies and a warming trend will return, with highs reaching the upper 40s to mid-50s.
Forecasters note that no major storm systems are expected in the coming days, but the chilly nights will persist, keeping early morning frost and freezing conditions possible for sensitive vegetation.
