Boise, ID – The National Weather Service in Boise has issued a Frost Advisory for parts of southwestern Idaho, warning that temperatures could dip into the low- to mid-30s early Friday morning.
According to the advisory, temperatures between 33°F and 36°F are expected from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. MDT Friday across the Upper Treasure Valley and Western Magic Valley, including the cities of Boise and Twin Falls.
The NWS cautions that frost could harm or kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left uncovered. “Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold,” the agency advised in its Thursday afternoon statement.
While temperatures within Boise’s urban core are forecast to remain slightly warmer—staying in the upper 30s to around 40°F—colder valleys to the east are likely to see visible frost by daybreak. The weather service added that colder conditions early next week could bring more widespread frost or even freezing temperatures.
Residents are encouraged to cover plants, bring potted vegetation indoors, and ensure outdoor pets and water lines are protected overnight.
