Coffee, GA – Heavy rain is drenching parts of Coffee County this morning, with flash flooding now possible through early afternoon. The National Weather Service in Jacksonville issued a Flash Flood Warning for west-central Coffee County, including the Ambrose area, as thunderstorms continue to produce intense downpours.

According to the National Weather Service, Doppler radar detected storms dropping between 2 and 5 inches of rain across the region by late morning. Another inch may still fall before the system moves out, bringing a high risk of flooding on area roads, creeks, and low-lying neighborhoods.

Flooding is likely on small streams and in poor drainage zones, including urban areas, underpasses, and local highways. Drivers are urged to avoid travel until the water recedes, as even shallow flooding can be life-threatening.

Residents should remain alert for rising water and never attempt to cross flooded roadways. The warning remains in effect until around 12:15 p.m., and additional advisories could follow if rainfall persists.

Safety Reminder: Turn around, don’t drown — most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
