VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — The surf rolls in smooth under clear skies this morning, sunlight breaking across calm waves and quiet neighborhoods from Oceanfront to Oceana. It’s the kind of bright, easy start November occasionally offers before the weather pivots again — and that change is coming this weekend.
The National Weather Service in Wakefield says Virginia Beach and the surrounding Hampton Roads region will hold onto several more days of dry, comfortable weather before rain returns late Saturday into Sunday. Today stays sunny and breezy with highs near 58°F, followed by another clear and crisp evening ideal for early leaf cleanup or late fall beach walks.
Friday remains mild near 65°F, but clouds will begin filtering in through the afternoon as winds shift from the southwest. By early Saturday morning, moisture from the Gulf begins to spread inland, and by Saturday night, showers are likely to develop across southeastern Virginia.
The best chance of rain — along with a few isolated thunderstorms — arrives Sunday afternoon, when temperatures briefly reach the low 70s before a cold front sweeps through. Behind that front, cooler and drier air settles in for the start of next week.
Veterans Day Tuesday will feel sharply different, with brisk northwest winds and highs struggling near 50°F — a reminder that the first big November chill isn’t far off.
Residents planning outdoor events or weekend travel should prepare for wet roads and gusty breezes Sunday, particularly along Interstate 64 and U.S. Route 13. Models hint at another cool-down midweek, possibly bringing the first light frost inland before mid-November.
