Wilmington, N.C. – Cooler and drier air is settling across the Carolinas Tuesday following a cold front that pushed through overnight, bringing a noticeable shift from recent humidity. Highs will hold in the mid-80s across southeastern North Carolina, but tonight’s lows are expected to dip into the mid-60s, even at the beaches.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, skies will remain partly cloudy tonight with light winds. A coastal flood advisory remains in effect for New Hanover and Brunswick counties until Tuesday afternoon as lingering high tides may lead to minor flooding along low-lying areas and roadways near the Intracoastal Waterway.
Sunny conditions return Wednesday, with highs near 84 degrees and calm winds, making for another comfortable day across the region. By Thursday, isolated showers may develop in the afternoon, though rain chances stay relatively low until the end of the workweek. The next organized round of showers and thunderstorms is likely Friday, which could disrupt outdoor plans heading into Labor Day weekend.
Residents are urged to take advantage of the dry stretch through midweek before unsettled weather builds back in.
