Corpus Christi, Texas – A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect this morning across parts of the Coastal Bend and Victoria Crossroads, creating hazardous travel conditions on roads and area waters.
According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, the advisory remains in effect through 9 a.m. for Live Oak, Jim Wells, Kleberg, Nueces, San Patricio, Bee, Refugio, Aransas, Goliad, Victoria, and Calhoun counties. Visibility on land is expected to drop below one-quarter mile at times.
Forecasters say fog may be especially dense in low-lying areas and along roadways near bays and coastal waters. For marine areas, visibility is expected to range between 1 and 3 miles across bays and nearshore waters, which could complicate navigation for boaters.
The NWS warns that dense fog can lead to sudden visibility changes, increasing the risk of crashes during the morning commute. Drivers are urged to slow down, increase following distance, and use low-beam headlights. Officials also advise considering delaying travel until conditions improve.
Mariners are cautioned to use extra care when navigating bays and coastal waters, as fog may make it difficult to see other vessels, channel markers, and shorelines.
Conditions are expected to gradually improve later this morning as fog lifts, though patchy low visibility may linger in some locations.
Morning commuters, school transportation routes, and early-shift workers may be most affected by the reduced visibility. Residents are encouraged to monitor local conditions and check updated forecasts at weather.gov/crp.
