Coal City, IL – A man was taken into custody Wednesday following a police operation in Coal City that temporarily shut down E. Division Street.

According to the Coal City Police Department, officers executed a search warrant on November 5, 2025, at a residence in the 800 block of E. Division Street. The Grundy County REACT Team assisted in the operation. Police said Division Street was closed in both directions for safety during the warrant service and reopened about 20 minutes later.

Authorities reported that David A. Hietschold Jr., 46, was located at the residence and taken into custody following what they described as an extensive investigation. He has been charged with three counts of Criminal Sexual Assault and one count of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child.

The Coal City Police Department expressed gratitude to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, Grundy County State’s Attorney’s Office, Braidwood Police Department, and Wilmington Police Department for their assistance.
