Albany, NY – The National Weather Service in Albany reports that a fast-moving clipper system will pass through the region Sunday night into Monday morning, bringing light snow to much of eastern New York and western New England.

Forecasters have high confidence that most areas will see a coating to 3 inches of snow, with higher totals likely in the southern Adirondacks, southern Greens, and northern Catskills. Snowfall could lead to slippery roads and reduced visibility during the Monday morning commute.

In the valleys of eastern NY, western Massachusetts, and northwest Connecticut, snowfall amounts are expected to be lighter — generally a coating to 1 inch. The chance for more than an inch increases to 40–70% in the elevated terrain farther north and east.

Temperatures today (Saturday) will be dry and milder, with highs in the upper 20s to 30s in higher terrain and mid to upper 30s in valleys, before turning colder again Sunday night.

Travelers should allow extra time Monday morning and monitor forecasts for any updates as the system approaches.
