Clinton County, Indiana – Drivers traveling along Interstate 65 in Clinton County Sunday night may have noticed a police presence after Indiana State Police arrested an allegedly impaired driver following a brief pursuit on the highway.
According to Indiana State Police, dispatchers received a 911 call around 10:00 p.m. Sunday reporting a possible impaired driver traveling southbound on I-65 near the 154-mile marker. Additional callers later reported the same vehicle stopped in the left lane near the 152-mile marker, raising concerns about traffic safety.
Trooper Bradley Howell responded and located a 2012 Ford Mustang stopped in the left lane of Interstate 65. Due to reports suggesting the driver may have been impaired, Trooper Howell deployed a tire deflation device in front of the vehicle while attempting to speak with the driver, police said.
The vehicle then continued southbound, prompting a pursuit that ended near the 149-mile marker, where the driver came to a stop. Troopers were able to safely take the driver into custody without further incident.
During the investigation, police say Trooper Howell gathered information leading him to believe the driver was under the influence of both alcohol and a controlled substance. Suspected marijuana and suspected mushrooms were allegedly found inside the vehicle. The substances were submitted to the Indiana State Police Laboratory for testing.
The driver was transported to the Clinton County Jail and identified as Michael Rogerson, 30, of Indianapolis.
Rogerson faces multiple preliminary charges, including resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, operating while intoxicated, and possession of controlled substances. All charges are allegations, and Rogerson is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
Indiana State Police were assisted by troopers from the Lafayette Post. Authorities remind drivers to report suspected impaired driving by calling 911.
