Carlyle, IL – The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office and Illinois Conservation Police are investigating after several deer were found shot and killed near the Boulder area, officials confirmed Friday.
According to Acting Chief Deputy Dennis R. Perez, authorities responded to fields just off the roadway where multiple dead deer were discovered on October 27. Investigators believe the animals were shot from vehicles traveling along nearby roads — an illegal act under Illinois law.
Law enforcement officials said they suspect additional deer may have been killed but not yet found. Conservation Police are continuing to search the area for evidence and further animal remains.
The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office announced that a Crimestoppers reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible.
Residents with knowledge of the incident are urged to contact the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office at (618) 594-4555 ext. 2 or email Acting Chief Deputy Perez at dennis.perez@clintonco.illinois.gov.
The investigation remains ongoing.
