Clewiston, Florida – A Frost Advisory remains in effect until 8 a.m. Wednesday for inland South Florida, with temperatures dropping into the mid-30s along US-27 and surrounding agricultural areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, the advisory covers Glades, Hendry and inland Collier counties, where light winds and clear skies are allowing frost to develop early Wednesday morning.

Low temperatures are expected to fall into the mid-30s across communities including Clewiston, LaBelle and Immokalee. Patchy frost is also possible across additional inland portions of South Florida, though coverage is expected to be limited outside the advisory area.

Forecasters say sensitive vegetation may be damaged if left unprotected. Agricultural interests across the interior, particularly near US-27, FL-80 and along the Interstate 75 corridor inland from Naples, are urged to take protective measures.

While no roadway closures are anticipated, early morning drivers could encounter localized visibility reductions in rural areas where shallow ground fog forms near frost-prone fields.

The Frost Advisory remains in effect through 8 a.m. Wednesday, after which temperatures are expected to rise quickly with sunshine returning. Afternoon highs are forecast to rebound into the 60s and 70s across much of South Florida.

Residents are advised to cover tender plants and check on outdoor pets during the early morning hours. Farmers and growers should ensure cold-sensitive crops are protected before sunrise.

Commuters and agricultural workers traveling before 8 a.m. should prepare for chilly conditions uncommon for late February in South Florida.

Updates are available through the National Weather Service Miami office.
