CLEVELAND — A relatively quiet stretch of weather is settling over Northeast Ohio as the weekend before Christmas unfolds, with temperatures seesawing and only limited chances for precipitation, according to the National Weather Service.

For Saturday, Cleveland and surrounding communities will see highs between 38 and 45 degrees, accompanied by passing clouds and breezy conditions. Overnight temperatures will fall sharply, with lows expected in the 20 to 25 degree range, keeping the chill firmly in place.

Conditions turn cooler on Sunday, with daytime highs dropping to 27 to 32 degrees. Forecasters say minor lake-effect snow is possible, especially east of Cleveland into northwest Pennsylvania, though accumulations are expected to be light. Sunday night will be cold again, with lows between 13 and 20 degrees.

Temperatures rebound modestly on Monday, reaching 33 to 40 degrees. The National Weather Service says the best chance of precipitation in the next five days arrives late Monday into early Tuesday, when rain or snow showers could move through the region. Overnight lows Monday night will range from 27 to 35 degrees, limiting the potential for significant snow accumulation.

By Tuesday, a milder air mass pushes in, with highs climbing to 43 to 50 degrees. Any early rain is expected to exit, leaving improving conditions through the day. The warming trend continues into Wednesday, Christmas Eve, with highs again in the low to mid-40s, possibly near 50 degrees, under partly sunny skies.

Overall, forecasters describe the pattern as quiet and manageable for late December travel, with no major winter storms expected at this time. Residents are still advised to monitor forecasts closely, particularly for overnight temperature drops and any brief periods of snow or slick roads.
