Cleveland, Ohio – A dangerous heat wave is gripping Northern Ohio today, with heat index values soaring between 95 and 101 degrees across the region, triggering a Heat Advisory and prompting health warnings.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, the advisory covers all of northern Ohio through Tuesday evening, with slightly lower but still oppressive conditions expected in Northwest Pennsylvania, where index values may reach 98 degrees. Temperatures in cities like Cleveland, Akron, and Youngstown are forecast to hit actual highs of 89 to 91°F, with heat indices pushing well over 100°F during peak afternoon hours.

Communities including Elyria, Medina, and Sandusky could see the most dangerous heat from noon through 6 p.m., especially in urban areas with limited shade. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged outdoor activity, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Roads and transit systems may also experience minor heat-related disruptions.

Although Wednesday offers a slight cooldown, with temperatures dipping a few degrees, more substantial relief is expected by Thursday. Rain chances remain very low today, with only a 10% shot at isolated afternoon storms.

⚠️ The Heat Advisory remains in effect through Tuesday evening. More updates may follow if conditions worsen.
