Cleveland, OH – A Freeze Warning remains in effect until 8 a.m. EDT this morning across much of northern and central Ohio, where temperatures have dipped to near 31 degrees, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Cleveland.
The warning covers several counties including Ashland, Mahoning, Stark, Richland, Crawford, Marion, Morrow, Holmes, and Knox, with the coldest readings occurring around dawn. Residents in cities such as Youngstown, Canton, Mansfield, and Mount Vernon are waking to widespread frost and sub-freezing air.
“Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation, and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing,” the NWS cautioned early Sunday. Homeowners are encouraged to cover tender plants and drain or wrap outdoor pipes before temperatures rebound later today.
The chilly conditions mark one of the coldest mornings of the fall season so far across northern Ohio. Afternoon highs are expected to reach the upper 40s to low 50s, offering some temporary relief before another cold night arrives on Monday.
