Cleveland, OH – Residents across northern and central Ohio should prepare for the coldest night of the season so far, as subfreezing temperatures are expected to settle in overnight.
According to the National Weather Service Cleveland, a Freeze Warning is in effect from midnight to 8 AM Sunday for Ashland, Crawford, Knox, Marion, Morrow, Richland, Holmes, Mahoning, Stark, and Wayne Counties.
Temperatures are forecast to dip as low as 29°F in some rural and sheltered locations, with widespread readings near the freezing mark across the region. The NWS warns that frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and damage sensitive vegetation, and unprotected outdoor plumbing may also be at risk.
Residents are advised to cover or bring in plants, and ensure garden hoses or outdoor faucets are properly insulated.
After the cold start, Sunday will bring mostly sunny skies and a gradual warming trend, but another chilly night may follow before temperatures rebound early next week.
