Cleveland, Ohio – Ohioans should brace for the most intense heat of 2025 beginning Sunday, as a multi-day stretch of dangerously high temperatures and humidity triggers an Extreme Heat Watch across the state.

According to the National Weather Service Cleveland, heat indices will climb to or above 100°F from noon Sunday through 8 p.m. Tuesday, with daytime highs in the 90s and overnight lows in the 70s offering little recovery time. The watch covers major metro areas including Cleveland, Columbus, Toledo, Akron, and Youngstown.

The heat risk will be highest for those working outdoors, the elderly, and anyone without access to air conditioning. Cities such as Mansfield and Marion are expected to see extended periods with “feels-like” temps near 105°F. Prolonged exposure could lead to heat exhaustion or heat stroke if precautions aren’t taken.

Residents should stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activity during peak hours, and check on neighbors or relatives. Cooling shelters are being prepped across the region, and outdoor events may be rescheduled. Nighttime heat could linger into Wednesday, prolonging the risk.

Warnings remain in effect through Tuesday night, and updates may follow if conditions worsen.
