Cleveland, OH – A surge of arctic air is set to move into northern Ohio tonight, delivering the coldest temperatures of the season so far, according to the US National Weather Service in Cleveland.

Temperatures will fall sharply behind a strong cold front, dropping from the upper 20s this morning into the teens, and eventually into the single digits by late Thursday night. The coldest readings are expected early Friday morning, when wind chills near or slightly below zero will make for a frigid start to the day.

Communities including Akron, Cleveland, Toledo, and Youngstown can expect overnight lows between 6°F and 10°F, with “feels-like” temperatures dipping as low as -3°F to -5°F in some areas.

Despite the bitter cold early Friday, forecasters say the chill will be brief. Temperatures should rebound to the upper 20s to near 30°F by Friday afternoon under mostly sunny skies.

Residents are urged to limit outdoor exposure overnight and ensure pets and pipes are protected from the freeze. Drivers should also be prepared for frost and slick spots during the Friday morning commute.
