Cleveland, Ohio – Thunderstorms rolling into Ohio Monday afternoon could bring damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and pockets of heavy rain, especially across northeast and north-central regions.
According to the National Weather Service Cleveland, multiple rounds of storms are expected throughout the day, with the strongest activity likely between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. Areas under a Marginal Risk for severe weather include Cleveland, Akron, Youngstown, and Mansfield. The main hazards include isolated damaging winds and localized downpours that may lead to minor flooding.
Cities along I-71 and I-77 should prepare for sudden visibility drops and slick roads during the evening commute. Power outages and tree limb damage are possible with the strongest gusts. Emergency officials recommend checking alerts frequently, avoiding unnecessary outdoor activities during storms, and securing loose outdoor objects.
While today’s storms are not expected to be widespread or long-lasting, isolated severe cells could still pose safety concerns. This marks one of several stormy days in a soggy late June stretch across the region.
Additional updates will be issued if the threat level escalates. Residents are urged to stay weather-aware into tonight.
