Cleveland, Ohio – Umbrellas will be a must in northern Ohio Friday as warm, humid air fuels scattered showers and thunderstorms across the region through tonight.
According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, storms may develop intermittently across areas from Sandusky to Youngstown, with temperatures reaching into the low 80s in Mansfield, Akron and Canton. Cleveland is expected to top out near 81°F, with rainfall and potential lightning lingering into the evening hours.
Storms may bring brief downpours, gusty winds, and isolated lightning, especially in inland areas. Cities like Marion and Mansfield could experience heavier afternoon rain, while lakeshore areas such as Ashtabula and Erie will remain cooler near 72°F with more scattered activity. Roads may become slick during commute hours, especially on I-77 and I-71.
Residents are advised to avoid flooded roadways, secure outdoor items, and monitor for any afternoon severe weather alerts. While this is not a widespread severe event, isolated thunderstorm hazards are possible, particularly south of Cleveland.
