Cleveland, Ohio – A crisp Canadian high is settling over the Great Lakes tonight, sending temperatures into the 40s inland and low 50s along the lakeshore from Cleveland to Erie. The chill comes with a risk of lake effect showers and possible waterspouts over Lake Erie through Monday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, dew points will sink into the upper 30s and mid-40s overnight, keeping conditions dry but cool. Inland towns such as Akron and Youngstown are expected to dip into the low 40s, while lakeshore cities including Cleveland and Lorain will stay closer to 50.
Travelers along I-90 and Route 2 should watch for reduced visibility if waterspouts develop near shore. Boat traffic on Lake Erie is also urged to use caution overnight and into early Monday, with unstable air fueling waterspout potential through the morning hours.
Residents are advised to bundle up for the coolest night since spring and keep windows closed to trap warmth indoors.
Conditions will moderate slightly by midweek, but cool nights are likely to linger. Additional lake effect showers may redevelop late in the week as another system approaches.
