Cleveland, Ohio – Northern Ohio will swelter under heat index values in the lower to mid-90s Monday, with Toledo, Sandusky, and Cleveland feeling the brunt of the humid air. The National Weather Service warns that while most areas will remain dry today, a few isolated showers and thunderstorms could pop up in northwestern Ohio this afternoon into early evening.
According to the National Weather Service Cleveland office, storm chances will rise Tuesday as a cold front approaches from the west. Rain probabilities jump from near zero Monday morning to 40–55% by Tuesday afternoon in Cleveland, Akron, and Youngstown, and could reach 70% in parts of northwest Pennsylvania by Wednesday morning.
High humidity will continue to make conditions uncomfortable for outdoor work or extended travel Monday. Residents are advised to drink plenty of water, take breaks in shaded areas, and keep an eye on radar updates, especially in Lucas, Erie, and Ottawa counties where storms may develop first.
By midweek, cooler and less humid air will follow the front, but Wednesday still carries a high likelihood of showers and thunderstorms across the region.
