CLEVELAND, Ohio – Scattered showers are pushing across northeast Ohio Tuesday afternoon, bringing the potential for heavy downpours, rumbles of thunder, and gusty winds that could top 35 mph through early evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, the greatest storm coverage is expected from north central counties into interior northeast Ohio, including areas around Cleveland, Akron, and Youngstown. Rainfall could quickly reduce visibility on highways, and drivers may encounter ponding on roads during the strongest cells.

Short bursts of heavy rain and isolated thunder are most likely along the I-71 and I-77 corridors. Gusty winds may cause minor tree limb damage and make travel difficult for high-profile vehicles. While widespread severe weather is not expected, residents are advised to secure loose outdoor items and use caution if traveling.

Showers are expected to taper off later tonight, but unsettled conditions could return midweek with more chances for rain.
