Columbus, Ohio – Light rain across Ohio on Thursday will give way to accumulating snow Friday into Saturday, with up to 1.5 inches of total precipitation expected by the weekend. While the system will be moisture-rich, river levels are projected to remain stable, with no flooding anticipated.

According to the Ohio River Forecast Center, most of the precipitation will fall as snow beginning Friday morning, impacting areas along and north of the I-70 corridor. Snowfall totals could vary, but roads may become slick heading into the weekend, particularly across northeast and central Ohio. Temperatures will hover near freezing, increasing the risk of icy spots during overnight hours.

Cleveland, Akron, and Youngstown could see road impacts by Friday afternoon, while Columbus and Dayton may face mixed precipitation earlier in the day. Local DOT crews are preparing for treatment as needed, and drivers are urged to allow extra time for Friday evening commutes.

Residents should check heating systems, charge devices, and avoid unnecessary travel once snow begins. Though the moisture content is high, hydrologists say river levels will stay within normal flow across the Ohio River and Lake Erie drainage basins.

More advisories may be issued as the storm system develops. Conditions are expected to calm by late Saturday.
