Cleveland, Ohio – Snow-covered roads and reduced visibility are expected to persist across Northeast Ohio today as a band of snow continues moving through the region, creating ongoing travel concerns from the lakeshore inland through the evening hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, snow began early this morning and will continue across much of northern Ohio, with lake-enhanced snow lingering longest in the traditional snowbelt areas. Most locations across Cuyahoga, Medina, Summit, and Lorain counties can expect 1 to 3 inches of snow today, while higher totals are likely east of Cleveland into Lake, Geauga, and Ashtabula counties. Erie County, Pennsylvania remains under a Winter Weather Advisory through early Monday with totals approaching 5 inches.

The steadiest snow is expected during the morning and early afternoon, with lighter but persistent snow showers continuing into the evening, especially along and east of Interstate 271. Cities including Cleveland, Euclid, Mentor, Chardon, Elyria, Akron, and Youngstown may see snow-covered roads and slick conditions redevelop throughout the day as temperatures remain cold.

Major travel routes such as Interstate 90, Interstate 71, Interstate 77, and State Route 2 could experience slowdowns due to reduced visibility and slushy accumulation, particularly during periods of heavier snowfall. Even brief lulls may give way to sudden bursts of snow as bands shift south.

Drivers are urged to reduce speed, increase following distance, and allow extra time to reach destinations. Side roads, bridges, and untreated surfaces will remain slippery into tonight.

Snow gradually tapers later this evening from west to east, though lake-enhanced snow showers may persist in far northeast Ohio overnight. Additional advisories remain possible if snowfall bands intensify or shift.
