Cleveland, OH – A persistent band of lake effect snow continues to impact northwestern Pennsylvania this morning, creating slippery roadways and reduced visibility before conditions gradually improve midday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Cleveland. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Crawford and southern Erie counties until 1 p.m. EST.

According to the NWS, the heaviest snowfall will occur across the higher terrain of eastern Crawford County and inland Erie County, where an additional 1 to 4 inches of snow is possible. Snow intensity will fluctuate through the morning, with the most impactful bursts expected earlier in the day before the band begins lifting northeast this afternoon.

Road conditions are expected to be hazardous, especially on untreated roads, rural stretches, and elevated surfaces. Commuters traveling this morning may encounter slow travel and localized slick spots as snow continues to accumulate. Forecasters note that snowfall amounts will decrease steadily as you move west toward Ohio, where impacts are significantly lower.

The lake effect snow band will weaken and drift northeast later today as winds shift, bringing a gradual reduction in snowfall across Crawford and Erie counties. However, lingering flurries may continue into early afternoon before tapering off entirely.

Residents and commuters in Meadville, Edinboro, Saegertown, Waterford, and surrounding communities should use caution throughout the morning. Snow-covered roads and bursts of heavier lake effect snow could still create brief periods of low visibility.

Travelers are encouraged to monitor updated advisories and radar throughout the morning, as lake effect band placement can shift unexpectedly.
