CLEVELAND, Ohio – Early fog clung to Lake Erie’s shoreline Friday morning, softening the city skyline and dampening commutes across Cuyahoga County. Light mist and drizzle made for slick stretches on I-90 and U.S. 6, but the gray start signals a shift toward a drier, milder weekend before a stronger storm system arrives early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, a weak disturbance will bring only spotty light rain Friday morning, with clearing skies into Saturday. Sunshine returns through Sunday as temperatures hold near 50°F — a rare calm spell for late November. That break will end Monday evening when a developing low-pressure system pushes out of the Plains, spreading widespread rain across northern Ohio through Tuesday.

Rain could total between a half inch and one inch, with gusty winds and reduced visibility likely during peak travel hours Tuesday morning. Those heading out early for Thanksgiving should watch for slower conditions along I-71 and I-80. Temperatures will dip into the 30s by midweek, bringing a chance of rain mixing with light snow Wednesday night into early Thanksgiving Day.

Nationally, weather models continue to highlight a potential for heavy snow — 3 to 8 inches — from the northern Plains to the Great Lakes between November 25 and December 3. For now, Cleveland sits on the warmer edge of that system, but colder air will edge east late Thanksgiving week, signaling the first true taste of winter across the Midwest.
