Cleveland, OH – Temperatures across northern Ohio will warm well into the 50s today with mostly sunny skies developing west of Cleveland and a mix of sun and clouds expected farther east. According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Cleveland, the mild stretch continues into Saturday with even warmer temperatures—but a notable surge in wind gusts will accompany the warmup.
The NWS reports that highs will reach the mid-50s today from Toledo through Sandusky and Cleveland, with areas farther south such as Mansfield and Marion rising into the upper 50s. Cities along the Pennsylvania border, including Ashtabula, Erie, and Youngstown, are expected to hold in the low 50s under partly cloudy skies. Winds today remain relatively light, with gusts mostly under 20 mph during the day.
According to forecasters, Saturday brings a sharp increase in warmth and wind. Temperatures are forecast to climb into the 60s across much of the region, but west to southwest winds will strengthen by late morning and afternoon. Gusts could reach 30–40 mph at times, especially from Cleveland south toward Akron, Canton, Mansfield, and Findlay. Eastern areas including Erie, Ashtabula, and Youngstown may also experience similar gust impacts during the afternoon.
The agency notes that while the day will remain dry, the strengthening winds could impact drivers on north-south roadways and those traveling in high-profile vehicles. Outdoor activities may also be affected due to sporadic strong gusts.
Residents are encouraged to secure loose outdoor items and monitor updated weekend forecasts as windy conditions intensify.
