CLEVELAND, Ohio – Fall officially arrives in Ohio on Monday, and with it comes cooler air and an uptick in storm chances across the region. Afternoon highs are expected to hover in the mid to upper 70s, down slightly from last week’s summer warmth.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, scattered showers and thunderstorms will build during the afternoon and evening, especially along the I-71 corridor and into Northeast Ohio. The storm threat could bring heavy downpours, gusty winds, and brief travel delays during the evening commute.

Cities including Cleveland, Akron, Youngstown, and Toledo should expect highs between 76 and 79 degrees. Lake shore communities like Ashtabula and Sandusky may see slightly cooler readings, staying closer to 75. Storm chances are highest after 2 p.m., continuing through the evening before tapering off overnight.

Drivers are urged to slow down in heavy rain, watch for ponding on roads, and avoid flooded intersections. Residents should also secure outdoor items ahead of potential gusty winds.

The National Weather Service advises that unsettled conditions may linger into midweek, with additional rain chances expected Tuesday.
